This Day In History (October 12th): Bret Hart Wins 1st WWF Championship

On this day in professional wrestling history (October 12th, 1992), Bret “The Hitman” Hart defeated “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair at an untelevised house show in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada to win his 1st WWF World Heavyweight Championship.  This was the first time that the WWF Championship would change hands at a untelevised event since Hulk Hogan defeated The Iron Sheik on January 23rd, 1984 at Madison Square Garden.

Hart would hold the championship until Wrestlemania IX the following April, losing it to Yokozuna.
